ORGANIZATION: Kolibri Forensics

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 10 people are interested

We are developing a small volunteer search and recovery team to assist in forensic and historical cases where victims were not recovered. These may include aircraft crashes, military missing in action, etc. These cases may be both on land and underwater. Cases will require travel both domestically and internationally. NOTE: This is not a true "virtual opportunity" but "multiple locations" was not offered as an option when posting this opportunity.

Qualifications include reliability and trustworthiness (all information you gather or have provided to you must be treated as confidential unless our organization specifies otherwise or where disclosure is required by law). A reasonable degree of fitness is desirable due to the locations these cases are generally located in. For international casework, volunteers must either have or be able to obtain a passport.

Other beneficial skills/traits include:

-Certification as a diver or, preferably, a dive instructor

-Experience/education in archaeological excavation methods

-Able to read or speak one of more languages other than English to a functional level

-Willingness to train as a human remains detection ("cadaver") dog handler

-Experience with excavation equipment

Training will be provided with the agreement that a minimum amount of volunteer work is required in return.

Persons with access to boats or other useful machinery are most strongly encouraged to apply.

A strong preference is given to those with military, law enforcement, forensics or other public safety backgrounds as these tend to provide a skill set that helps in this role. However, we can train others who have the willingness and determination to learn and serve others.

Volunteers may be subject to drug testing and background checks.

We welcome and encourage persons from all faiths (or lack thereof), nationalities, ethnic heritages, orientations and/or gender identities to apply.

Please note that this position will require working closely and on good terms with law enforcement agencies. If you have a problem with this, please do not apply.

Other volunteer roles are available as well.
