Community Outreach and Education Department Volunteer

This is a great opportunity to learn about prevention education, network, and gain experience and knowledge of social services. Hours are extremely flexible and we try to work with all schedules and interests.

Community Outreach and Education Department Volunteer Duties:
- Organize, and manage tables at community events
- Inform and educate community members
- Help organize trainings and other events
- Help expand reach
- Create pamphlets and informational materials
-etc.

Optional Duties:
- Presentations to schools, agencies, etc.
- Help with university activities
- etc.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Alliance Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault is to stop domestic violence and sexual assault in Kern County and assist survivors in reclaiming their lives. Our purpose as an agency is to make a difference in our community by providing expertise in dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault and ensuring the safety and well-being of victims and their children by providing services that address their individual needs and prepare them for self-sufficiency.

Description

The Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault serves women, men, teens, and children who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Services include:

24-Hour Crisis Hotline, Self-Defense Classes once a month, 24-Hour Hospital Accompaniment, Legal Advocacy, Emergancy housing, Case management, Individual Counseling and Group Counseling. Volunteer opportunities include: tabling at health fairs, presentations to the community, 24-hour hotline, sexual assault response team, human trafficking victims advocate, case management, and many more.
