We need volunteers to join us in permanently ending homelessness for FAMILIES in North County San Diego!! We have a 1000 day innovative program that brings families to self sufficiency and life transformation, so they never need to be homeless again.
How can you help?
Bring dinner to our NEWEST residents in the Intake Access Center. Right now, this means 25-50 residents who are anywhere from 1 day to 2 months out of homelessness. Part of our program involves nightly meals for the first two months from the community.
This volunteer dinner provides nutrition and family time for our new clients, as well as a feeling of support from the community!
We need volunteers to sign up for several dates through the end of the year. Sign up is easy - and the impact is huge! You prepare and bring the meal, serve the food and visit with families (for those that are interested, volunteers are also invited to eat with the families). It is an important part of our residents moving from a feeling of survival to stability.
QUESTIONS
Can I bring my family, including young kids? Yes! We have volunteer groups that range from 1 volunteer to 15 volunteers. It is a good opportunity for individuals wanting to help, families, church groups, clubs, etc. We have had four year olds serving pasta and 2 year olds handing out water bottles. We also have young kids that play, while their parents or older kids serve.
Will I receive more detailed information, including how many persons to prepare dinner for? Yes! I will send you an official head count, along with details for your scheduled night, a few days before your scheduled date to serve.
