ORGANIZATION: Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society

A passion for history and ability to organize, would be the ideal candidate. The volunteer will assist the archivist with organizing and sorting historical material and genealogical research. Reading, writing and organizational skills essential. No experience necessary. A few hours a week Monday through Thursday. The ERHS collects and preserves historical church records from the Reformed Church. and currently contains records from over 800 churches and 400 manuscript collections. Records are used by genealogists and researchers.

The purpose of the society is: • to collect, organize, preserve, and make accessible the records, history and heritage of the Reformed Church in the United States, the Evangelical Synod of North America, and the Evangelical and Reformed Church; • to cooperate with other religious and academic organizations for the cultivation and preservation of church history.

Description

The ERHS collection includes the denominational records of the Reformed Church (1725-1934) and the Evangelical and Reformed Church (1934-1962), their boards, commissions, committees, regional synods, and area classes.
