The role of Marketing Coordinator involves taking on a wide range of responsibilities and being creative, bringing one's own ideas for campaigns and marketing material. You will work under the supervision of the Marketing Manager and receive ongoing support and guidance throughout your placement whilst also learning and practising new skills.

You will work with our Marketing Manager, Marketing Volunteer, Recruitment Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that Otra Cosa Network is able to maximise volunteer recruitment. Additionally, you will assist the fundraising team with marketing material and help with the management of our social media. You will have responsibility for research, development and implementation within marketing, both online and offline, locally, nationally and internationally.

This position is a fantastic opportunity for those who want to gain experience in marketing and get an insight into the management of an NGO, making it ideal for students undertaking a placement year or for those seeking entry-level work experience after graduation.

For students, all volunteer positions are available as internships, which is ideal for students looking to complete a year in industry/placement abroad. In this case, you will receive an extra level of mentorship and all appropriate communication with your academic institution to ensure compliance with internship placement requirements.

Responsibilities:

Research:

  • Conducting market research and analysing consumer rating reports/ questionnaires
  • Employ marketing analytics techniques to gather important data (social media, web analytics, rankings etc.)
  • Helping identify marketing trends and key opportunities for innovation.
Online Marketing:
  • Compose and post online content on the company’s website and social media accounts
  • Learning and working with various types of software for digital marketing.
  • Updating recruitment websites with content and pictures
  • Assisting with the production of newsletters and other publications
Offline Marketing:
  • Assist in the organizing of promotional events and traditional campaigns and attend them to facilitate their success Prepare and deliver promotional presentations
  • Write marketing literature (brochures, posters etc) to augment the company’s presence in the market Contacting universities for potential partnerships and encourage trusting relationships
Strategizing:
  • Develop and implement marketing plans and strategies for our organisation.
  • Develop and implement new projects or campaigns to meet the result of the research
  • Present own innovative ideas of development
  • Supporting the Marketing Volunteer and delegating appropriate tasks for them

A typical day in the role:

Whilst there is a lot of variety in this role, the days for the marketing coordinator can be quite varied, depending on what campaign/event/material is in focus that particular week. Social media content creation will be undertaken every day, either by yourself or in collaboration with the Social Media Coordinator. Other tasks will involve developing different types of marketing resources, assisting with the production of newsletters and other publications, preparing & implementing events, updating marketing material for volunteer recruitment, etc.

After work there is plenty of time to catch one of Huanchaco’s world-famous sunsets from the tranquillity of the beach, or indeed from a surfboard. Then there are various options to fill your evening, socializing with local and other volunteers, sampling the famous Peruvian cuisine, attending talks and cultural events, music, dance, theatre, movies... the list is endless.

Otra Cosa Network is a registered Peruvian non-profit NGO (no. 11126841) and a UK Registered Charity (no. 1133680) based in Huanchaco on the coast of Northern Peru.

Otra Cosa Network runs five of our own projects, which are all part of the Huanchaco Education and Learning Programme (HELP). HELP is dedicated to advancing the education possibilities and resources for those living in lower-income communities in and around Huanchaco. Alongside this, we support several partner organisations in the area, as well as in two remote locations in northern Peru.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Time Commitment: Minimum 3 months. Long term volunteers are preferred. Generally, 20-25 hours per week, Mon-Fri.
  • At least basic Spanish desirable, but not essential Knowledge or experience in marketing and/or communications desirable. Photography and videography skills desirable. Creativity and the ability to be proactive. Excellent communication ability.
