Join a new and exciting endeavor to help ensure that Meals on Wheels recipients (who have memory impairment) are appropriately heating (food temperature) and consuming their delivered meals. Volunteers are needed during lunchtime hours for 2-3 days/week. As a mealtime companion, volunteers will help encourage older adults to eat; volunteers should bring their own meal or snack for themselves. Guidance on working with older adults with cognitive decline will be offered to volunteers. Urgently needed in Alexandria area (Mount Vernon, Lorton & Franconia).

The Fairfax Area Agency on Aging (AAA) serves older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers in Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. The goal of the AAA is to improve quality of life and promote independent living for older adults. We are a partnership of Department of Family Services, Neighborhood and Community Services and the Health Department.
