Youth Support Mentor Reports To: Case Manager

Purpose: Provide support and assistance to mentee in developing life skills and experiences. Providing services to ages 10-21.

Key Tasks:

  • Provide Job Coaching:
  • Assist youth to identify job opportunities, application and interview preparation for positions, ensure transportation has been arranged,
  • Provide Self-Development to the Mentee:
  • Develop critical thinking skill, problem solving skill, how to make positive life choices,
  • Assist in building communication skills and keep Mentee focused on goals,
  • Help mentee identify new opportunities to continue building knowledge and skills,
  • Train mentee on how to identify resources in the committee,
  • Maintain a professional relationship with families/youth,
  • Respond to families/youth needs, concerns and questions timely,
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED,
  • Experience working with families/youth is preferred,
  • Effective listening and communication skills,
  • Non-judgmental personality, Ability to travel locally,
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of employment and a driving record meeting AMIkids standards.
