A Little TIme, A Profound Effect

Compassus Hospice is looking for individuals to create special quilts to drape the patients as they are transported out of the facility. These quilts will be used to honor our patients and provide a sense of dignity as they leave for the last time. Do you feel called to share your talent and time making these special quilts? If so, contact Kim Iannacci at Compassus Hospice at 978 777-8222 or email at Kimberly.Iannacci@compassus.com. The quilts need to be 8 feet long by either 4 or 5 feet wide.

Mission Statement

At Compassus Hospice, our mission is to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying through pain management, emotional and spiritual support. We deliver our care services wherever our patients call home, whether that home is a private home, an apartment, an assisted living community, a skilled nursing center or, in some cases, a hospital. Our service area includes Newburyport down to Revere, Ayer, Westford, Lowell, Haverhill, Salem, Malden, Medford, Stoneham, Peabody, Andover/N. Andover, Chelmsford, Wilmington and Billerica to name just some of the towns.

Description

Compassus Hospice volunteers play a vital role in carrying out our mission to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying. Individuals who are 18 and older who are willing to share one to four hours per week are encouraged to apply to our program. Serving as a volunteer will enrich your own life in ways you can’t begin to imagine.

No previous experience in the medical field is necessary, and you will be prepared for your role with a free, comprehensive training program. This training will help you learn how to provide emotional support, companionship and respite care to patients and families.
