Are you a self-described "people person"? Do you love aquatic animals? Are you interested in learning new things? If so, this is for you!
Join us as we spark compassion, curiosity and conservation for the aquatic animal world.
Shedd Aquarium is seeking volunteers to join our Guest Engagement team as Exhibit Interpreters. These individuals engage guests throughout our exhibits by using techniques such as hands-on activities, questioning, descriptive language and props.
Not an animal expert? That's okay! We provide all the training you need.
We have shifts available 7 days a week, both morning and afternoon. A commitment of one year is preferred.

At Shedd Aquarium, volunteers are valued partners. They can be found in almost every area of the aquarium: preparing food for our animals, sharing stories with our guests, testing water samples, and even diving. And that’s just the surface!
You don’t need to be an expert to volunteer. If you're passionate about aquatic life, and you love to learn, teach and inspire, you'll be a great volunteer!
