Many seniors and adults with disabilities want to stay in the comfort of their homes, but need extra support for their bodies, minds, and hearts. Moreover, their caregivers need a break to re-energize.
Provide a pleasant, outdoor environment to enrich the lives of cognitively and physically impaired seniors and adults.
- Work with the Activity Coordinator to schedule garden tasks.
- Work with Activity coordinator to forecast plantings.
- Interact with participants during activities.
- Provide garden up keep, plantings and harvesting.
Essential Qualifications:
- Ability to provide basic garden tasks: planting, weeding, and harvesting.
- Ability to assess garden need and communicate those with Activity Coordinator
- Open communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and/or studies in horticultural
- Experience working with cognitively and physically impaired adults and senior citizens.
Program orientation and on-going feedback and coaching provided. Join a team of dedicated and fun staff in improving the lives others.
Volunteers of America Oregon’s Adult Day Services are a structured, comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of functionally and/or cognitively-impaired adults. We provide individually-planned service, supervision, social and related support services, and health monitoring in a protective setting during any part of a day, but less than 24-hour care.

Since 1896, Volunteers of America Oregon has worked to change lives by promoting self-determination and building strong communities. Today, through the dedication of over 300 staff members and more than 1000 volunteers, we help thousands of families in the greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington areas.
