Colt Park Cleanup

Meet at the Sam Colt Memorial off of the Wethersfield Ave entrance. We'll have litter pickers, bags and water. Please bring your own gloves and if possible long sleeves and pants. We will be picking up trash/litter. No bulky waste. You can park across the street or in the circle, but it might fill up.

Mission Statement

The Commission shall be an advisory body to the Department of Public Works, the Director of Families, Children, Youth, and Recreation and to the Council in matters relating to recreation and park maintenance services. It shall make studies and recommendations to the Mayor, the Council and the Director of Public Works concerning the use of parks by the general public, park management, and park policies and to the Director of Families, Children, Youth, and Recreation concerning recreation program formulation. It shall also seek working relationships with schools, community and civic organizations and shall provide the general public with information and education as regards recreation and park maintenance. The Commission shall also serve as the contact point for the public to express their opinions and requests relative to recreational programming in Hartford.

Description

Keep our parks clean. To maintain our parks’ beauty, restorative qualities, and ensure safety for residents and wildlife. PRAC is looking to Friends Groups and other organizations to increase cleanups, assist in communicating anti-litter messages and looking for new solutions. PRAC is assisting city departments to create an Adopt a Traffic Island policy and working to develop a Litter Campaign specifically for the parks.
