Anxiety In Teens

Are you passionate about mental health awareness? Do you love to write and help others? Then this opportunity is for you!

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization seeking students and post-grads with lived experience with mental health issues along with strong writing and editing skills. This individual has to have a passion for the issues youth and young adults face including mental health, relationships with peers and family, bullying in schools and cyberbullying, as well as communication and assertiveness training (young adults who have coped with mental health issues in their own lives or close family preferred).

Interns will regularly produce relevant content for the site, published to teen, college or parent audiences on our website. Interns will also take part in discussions with other interns about their work, mental health and implementing healthy habits and coping skills in their own lives. Our blog is a volunteer-run operation focused on bridging the gap between parents and young adults who struggle with mental illness.

DUTIES

Specific internship duties include, but are not limited to:

--Contribute relevant, interesting, personal and thoughtful submissions to our regular online mental health magazine.
--Participate in biweekly self-reflection writing exercises with the team
--Very occasionally, ad-hoc assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

--Highly motivated, undergraduate or recent graduate in good academic standing and with a strong interest or background in mental health and young adult issues.
--Preferably a psychology, English, communications, journalism, PR major, or related field.
--Empathetic; interpersonal skills
--Strong English language/grammar skills.

Extras: experience with the mental health field, development or other non-profit experience.

INTERNSHIP BENEFITS

--Be a part of something meaningful: create important resources for teens struggling with mental health disorders, in addition to gaining personal insight and community with other college interns.
--College credit if your university allows.
--Professional development in an independent environment that prepares interns for full-time employment in a professional setting.
--Opportunity to gain experience in areas of office management, data collection, analysis, and professional writing development.

"Contributing was a therapeutic experience that enriched my writing, social media and market research skills. It gave me the opportunity to connect with people whom I shared similar experiences with. I felt that I made an impact on teens and parents' lives through my blog writing as demonstrated by the comments that my posts received" -Katie, Editorial Intern '17
