Gift Shop Volunteers assist paid staff in the Simply Sumner Gift Shoppe by:
- Greet Customers
- Receiving payments at cash register and answering phones
- Blowing up balloons and wrapping gifts
- Changing signage and helping with displays
- Straightening and pricing merchandise
- Checking products for expiration dates
- Dusting shelves
- Delivering food to meetings
- Help with sales such as flowers, baby items, etc.
- Inventory control and prevention of loss with customers
- Demonstrations of merchandise for customers and introducing new products
- Assisting with storage plans
- Other duties assigned

Mission Statement
The Mission of Friends of Sumner Regional Medical Center, Inc. is to meet healthcare needs through . . . (1) assistance to patients and their families, (2) involvement in community healthcare initiatives, and (3) provision for medical education through scholarships.
Description
In February 2010, the volunteer unit became a 501(c)3 not-for-profit entity known as Friends of Sumner Regional Medical Center, Inc. The Board of Directors was created according to federal guidelines for volunteer units that serve hospitals. That board is composed of eight directors and two advisory members. These directors are all active volunteers.
The Board of Directors help initiate five patient-focused projects and one community-focused project. Through out the year these members help raise funds to support those projects that benefit our patients at SRMC.
The five patient-focused are as follows:
1. Food Pantry
2. Gas Vouchers
3. Clothes Closet
4. Cancer Support Groups
5. Sleep Sacks
The community-focused project are Medical Scholarships to 3 local colleges
