MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE BY HELPING YOUNG CHILDREN LEARN TO READ. Become a volunteer literacy tutor with Experience Corps - Greater New Haven! If you are age 55+, your help is needed to tutor students in literacy twice a week in one of our participating Hamden, New Haven and East Haven elementary schools or afterschool progarms (average 6 hours weekly) from October to June. Your love of reading and wealth of experiences will make you a great literacy tutor to children struggling to learn to read. We provide the training which begins in early October.
Requirements: a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent reading and writing skills, patience & flexibility, enjoy being with young children, be able to pass a background check by fingerprints.
