Do you enjoy kids and games? Consider volunteering during The Chicago Public Library’s Summer Learning Challenge with us! During this hour long program you will assist David in game play, monitor a group of children, obtain and upload photos. Check out the list of libraries and sign up today. Please contact jessica@davidlhoytfoundation.org for further questions. Emails will be responded to on Tuesday's and Thursday's each week.

All volunteers must attend one of our orientation sessions before volunteering with us. Here are the following dates for summer orientation:
June 18th 11am-1pm
June 30th 1pm-3pm
Please send an email to jessica@davidlhoytfoundation.org letting us know which session you will be attending. If for any reason you are unable to attend either of these sessions, we are more than willing to schedule a time for you to visit our office for an individual orientation.

Orientations will be held in the Thomas Hughes Children's Library located on the second floor of the Harold Washington Library Center.

About David L. Hoyt Education Foundation

Location:

Mission Statement

The David L. Hoyt Education Foundation was formed to develop and promote play-based and collaborative learning. We recognize the need to encourage and foster education, community, and responsible citizenship. We create accessible experiences and related curricula that engage learners with fun and interactive games and puzzles. The foundation, and its team, values teamwork, fun, innovation, critical thinking, leadership, empathy, creativity, and literacy.

Description

The founders, David L. Hoyt and Claire Haasl, understand that play is endlessly important to creating global citizens who can make strategic decisions and think creatively. In order to fulfill our mission we strive to accomplish the following objectives: developing curricula for Giant Word Winder and Giant Math Winder; partnering with existing educational and community organizations; providing educational games and/or play-based tools; and providing fundraising tools for those looking to raise money for games.

We are excited that 2018 is bringing new initiatives, such as the Center for Collaborative Learning at 4054 N. Lincoln Ave in Chicago, IL, which moved from its old location and officially opened its doors in April of this year.
