The Salvation Army food bank is currently seeking volunteers to help at our local food bank. We have an array of different opportunities for people interested. Volunteer as little or as much as you like, come join us in serving our community.
Stock rotation, Food bank closer-
Help unload our grocery items from the truck and make sure items are properly rotated in our large walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Monday through Friday from 12-3:00 pm
Dry Goods, organization and stock-
Portion out diapers, hygiene products, toilet paper, and other items in our dry goods room. Also portioning flour, sugar, masa etc, Monday through Friday mornings, or Afternoons.
Food Room-
Distribute food bags to Whatcom county residents. Stock food room if need be, maintain food room cleanliness and organization. Tuesday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. chose the morning or afternoon shift if you like or work the entire day. a one hour lunch break is provided.
Intake-
Verify clients I.D. and input them into our computer system, help identify needs.Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. chose the morning or afternoon shift if you like or work the entire day. a one hour lunch break is provided.

The Salvation Army feeds an average of 156,000 every single day in the U.S.
These meals are served to anyone in need - this includes homeless people of all ages, as well as individuals and families who may be down on their luck and in need of a helping hand. In addition to addressing the immediate symptoms of food insecurity, our programs are designed to help identify and treat its root cause. This approach focuses on meeting the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each person and helps move many from hungry to fully healed.
