Volunteers are needed for an opportunity at our office in Salem, Massachusetts.

Medical Research Charities (MRC) is a federation of charities that are solely dedicated to research, prevention, education and advocacy. MRC's mission is to support the discovery of successful treatments and cures for some of life’s most dreaded diseases.

MRC is a registered 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization. As such, donations made to MRC and its member charities are tax deductible. Every effort is made to ensure that the maximum amount of a donor’s gift goes directly to fund research.

Volunteers are needed to help run our social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) with potential for website/blog writing opportunities and to cultivate relationships with our donors through thank you notes and other outreach.

Responsibilities:
- Work with the Deputy Director and MRC team to identify communications strategies and a social media plan
- Post daily on social media to gain traction and engage followers
- Identify trends through research and knowledge of the industry
- Draft creative ideas for new posts, photos, videos and/or blogs daily
- Write and track thank you notes to donors

Requirements:
- High school graduate
- Knowledge of social media and current trends
- Reliability
- Creativity
- Passion for helping people (medical research a plus)
- Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other related field a plus
- Nonprofit experience a plus

Flexible schedule. Ideal 3-5 hours per week.
