Peninsula Food Runners is a non-profit organizations that helps alleviate food waste and hunger in our own community. We are currently looking for volunteers to help transport high quality food from corporations and local businesses directly to the tables of senior citizens, low income families, shelters and youth centers. Mission Statement
The mission of Peninsula Food Runners is to alleviate food insecurity and reduce food waste in our communities. Everyday, volunteers at Peninsula Food Runners pick up and deliver a wide variety of wonderfully prepared food and groceries to community food to support organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
Description
Established in 2013, this volunteer organization picks up excess food from businesses (restaurants, caterers, schools, corporate cafes bakeries, etc) and delivers it to recipients (food pantries, those that serve the homeless, shelters, transitional housing, 100% affordable housing, etc.) in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Peninsula Food Runners relies on volunteers to be successful. Sign up on our website www.PeninsulaFoodRunners.org. You can volunteer for a regular weekly food run, or choose from a variety of open runs available 7 days a week on our automated scheduling system.
