Chinese Conversation Circle (CCC) Leaders/Facilitators help English speakers learn the Din Yin language (basic).
Typically we have two volunteers that work together to plan lessons (they can alternate weeks leading the group) and cover for one another when one is away.
The Circles are on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. We reserve a meeting room in our downtown Vancouver Community Library for the group. There are resources, projector/screen, white board, etc... available for volunteers to utilize as teaching tools. An orientation is provided plus an opportunity to work with other Conversation Circle Volunteers for training purposes.
Often the participants/attendees are parents that have adopted Chinese children and want to be familiar with the culture or a spouse that wants to learn more about their partner's native language. Of course some participants may want to travel to China or generally interested in adding a new language to their skill set.
FVRL has Conversation Circles in many languages including: American Sign Language, Chinese, English, French, and Spanish at various library locations in SW Washington.
