Open Door Learning Center offers free daytime classes from 9:15 to 2:30, Monday through Friday in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood on the east side of St. Paul.
You can volunteer from 1 ½ hours to 5 ¾ hours one or more days a week. You will work with a full time teacher giving one-to-one support, leading small groups and assisting with large group activities for learning ESL, math, science or social studies. Your teacher will also work with you on ways to bring your talents into the classroom.
Many of our students are refugees and immigrants. They are highly motivated and appreciate the help from the volunteers. You will get to know people from a different culture.
No experience is required. We will provide training.
