This volunteer opportunity is for corporate or community groups: Groups can sign up for this one-time opportunity to help at our Grand Re-Opening Celebration at Cambrian Center as part of SV@Home’s Affordable Housing Week event in the Silicon Valley Region. This event will take place on Tuesday, May 15th at 11:30AM. Cambrian Center is one of Eden Housing’s affordable housing properties for low-income seniors in San Jose! The event begins at 11:30 and the formal program ends at 12:30. Food will be served at 12:30 and the arts and crafts will begin at 1 pm.
Duties:
A group of volunteers will help us lead a spring-themed arts and crafts project to help welcome seniors to their newly remodeled home and help them decorate for and welcome Spring! We will provide all supplies, and volunteers will help seniors create and decorate spring wreaths for their doors.
Skills needed:
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive personality and demeanor. Able to approach and welcome all types of people.
Benefit:
Volunteer group will have the opportunity to work closely together and be creative and help us execute a fun event, spend time with new people, and help provide a fun experience to low-income seniors.

Description
Eden Housing, Inc. is a California non-profit corporation founded in 1968 by six community activists who were concerned about the lack of non-discriminatory, affordable housing in Northern California. These volunteers began by rehabilitating older homes in Hayward for first time homebuyer families. In the mid-1980s, Eden Housing incorporated an affiliated property management company, Eden Housing Management, Inc. (EHMI), which currently provides quality onsite management and maintenance for more than 9,000 affordable homes throughout California. In the mid-1990's, Eden Housing expanded its scope to include the provision of free onsite support services and programs for its residents.Our services include technology programming; "green" resident education; youth academic, enrichment and recreation programs; programs for seniors and persons with disabilities; financial literacy; job/career preparation; and health and wellness programs for all ages.
Today, Eden has a portfolio of 9,000 units at 145 properties across 15 counties in California. Eden develops new construction and acquires and rehabilitates existing properties to preserve them. During the past 53 years, over 65,000 people have come home to an Eden Housing community. At Eden Housing, we have more than 20,000 households on our waiting list and a portfolio-wide vacancy rate of 1%, demonstrating a huge demand for our work.
