We are looking for 10 dedicated teachers to teach our Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday English classes. Come to the English Learning to teach English to approximately 7 students, who are Adult English Language Learners.
No prior teaching experience is necessary!
We train our volunteers at our site and we also require volunteers to attend a training with Minnesota Literacy Council within 90 days of volunteering. Some exceptions to this training apply.
Background check for all volunteers is also part of application process.
The English Learning Center is a program of Our Saviour's Community Services, a community-based nonprofit. We provide English (ESL), math, citizenship, computer and reading classes as well as advocacy to adult immigrants and refugees in the Phillips neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Currently the English Learning Center serves nearly 400 adult students each year. It has become a well-known community center for immigrants and refugees from all around the world. We are a volunteer-based organization: over 100 volunteers teach all the program classes.
For those interested in a career in ESL, volunteering here is an excellent way to begin or continue gaining experience. For everyone: it is a great way to connect with others in your community!
