The award winning Twilight Education Project seeks volunteers to provide homework assistance to school age children.
The Twilight Education Project is a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley, the Huntington Beach Adult School, two Huntington Beach school districts, and Golden West College. Through this partnership, Twilight provides families with ESL education for parents, academic support for school age youth, preschool instruction, and infant care. The program is offered free of charge and helps more than 100 families each year gain the language skills they need to succeed.
The program follows the Huntington Beach City School District's academic calendar, with 2 18-week semesters. The program is offered Tuesday through Thursday of each week from 5:30-8:30pm.
Several volunteers are needed each night to help staff provide homework assistance to 50-70 children in grades 1-12. If you can consistently offer one night a week of your time, we would love to have your help! You can make a huge difference to these kids by giving them the academic support that their parents cannot give until they become more proficient in English. Responsible teens are welcome to help tutor younger children.
