ORGANIZATION: Homestead Hospice

Volunteers with a loving, compassionate hearts are needed citywide to care for patients. Activities with patients include: reading to them, talking with them, holding their hands, doing arts and crafts, crocheting, sewing, playing music, listening to music together, watching television together, running errands, or being there with them while their caregivers take a break. These activities helps provide social and emotional support to the patients, providing them with comfort and peace in what could be the most crutial time in their lives.

Volunteer requirements include a orientation, a drug screening, and a tuberculosis skin test which is provided by Homestead Hospice, and can be completed within one day at the convenience of the volunteers' schedule. Any minors must be accompanied by a guardian. This is the perfect opportunity for an parents and their children to have an activity that they can do together to bond.
