Are you interested in learning how to care for a museum's collection? Cleaning and inspecting the artifacts is critical to preserving our Museum’s collection. Dust is one of our biggest challenges since it can damage artifacts on exhibit and those in storage.
Your responsibilities would consist of cleaning and helping to maintain the exhibit spaces. This would include artifact dusting and cleaning display cases. The museum's curator trains volunteers on proper housekeeping procedures for artifacts. Volunteers will also help dust and clean the collection in our two storage areas and Research Center. Our West Harmony one-room school and Gannon log cabin also need regular cleaning.
We are looking for weekly or semi-monthly help.4 More opportunities with McHenry County Historical Society and Museum
