Like the Eno River? Like people? Like fun? Volunteer at the 39th Annual Festival for the Eno.
The 39th Annual Festival for the Eno will take place Wednesday, July 4 and Saturday, July, 7. We have a variety of positions available to fit everyone’s interests, personality, and skills.

2018 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES DESCRIPTIONS

SET UP

Big Top Day *Saturday, June 30*
Come and help set up the huge, circus-style tent at the Top of the Meadow and assist with various other set up tasks.

Trash Free Set-up:Assist a Trash Free Committee member to get stations ready each morning. This includes making sure there are 2 recycling bins at each station and a supply of bags for the day. May also include helping to distribute our compostable utensils to the vendors and hauling their compostables to a center.

Site Set-Up: Help prepare the site. Set up tents, trim undergrowth, set up drink stands, and work with Festival Staff on a any number of hands-on, manual tasks in the park. Familiarity and comfortability with hand and common power tools desirable. Shifts available before and after the event, and also nights and weekends.

TRASH FREE

Trash Free Pick-Up: Shifts are 3 hours or less. Walking and driving routes through the site collect recyclables.

Trash Free Station Monitor: Shifts are 3 hours or less. Monitor recycling stations, assist Festival attendees the proper sorting and separating of trash. We divert over 95% of our refuse to recycling and compost programs. We are looking for dedicated Trash Free volunteers. Good humor and a willingness to get messy are a must.

Trash Free Monitor - Beer Garden: Monitor beer garden compost station by properly sorting and separating beer cups and compost. We are looking for dedicated Trash Free volunteers with good humor and a willingness to get messy.

TICKETS, RAFFLE, AND T-SHIRTS SALES

Ticket Booths: Shifts are 3 1/2 hours. Coordinated by manager. Off site and on site booths are set up under tents. Give an enthusiastic greeting and great first impression to Festival goers as you sell tickets and hand out programs.

Tee Shirt Sales: Shifts are 4 hours or less. Work under the Big Top tent. Keep inventory organized and interact with attendees.

Raffle Booth: Shifts are 4 hours or less. Coordinated by manager. Help with prize display and removal of raffle prizes or display and removal of table items. Sell raffle tickets and award raffle prizes to happy winners! Sell calendars and items at the calendar table. Raffle tent is in the active Meadow area. Lots of fun and excitement all around!

PARKING

Performer Parking: Shifts are 3 hours. Monitor the entrance to the performer parking lot. Bring something to read.

Handicap Parking: One 3 hour shift on each morning of the festival. This volunteer needs to closely monitor this lot and direct vendors and performers and other visitors to their designated parking area/s.

Gatekeeper: Monitor and supervise vehicular traffic entering the park. Fast paced and occasionally intense. Must have a tolerance for heat and good people skills.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Hospitality: Performers consistently complement us on our well stocked and run hospitality area. Volunteers are needed to put out food and drinks for the performers and replenish as needed during the Festival and keep the area clean.

Drink Booths: Shifts are 3 hours or less. Sell bottled canned and fountain and fruit drinks to thirsty Festival goers! Covered booths are staffed by 2 or 3 volunteers at all times. Recycling guidelines are posted in booths. Provide friendly information to crowd, great way to meet people. Several booths are near stages and all are fun!

Beer Garden: Be a Festival Ambassador in our Beer Garden! MUST BE 21+ to volunteer at this job. You'll be in charge of keeping the area tidy, troubleshooting and talking to patrons about the Eno River Association.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Photography: This volunteer area is for professional photographers only. Coordinated by manager. Must have professional camera and willingness to share all photos at the end of your shift.

Pottery (wheel): Wheel experience required. Help kids and adults in our Hands-On Clay area learn to turn clay on our pottery wheels.

Pottery (hand building): No experience necessary. Shifts are 2 1/2 hours. Coordinated by manager. Help the kids in our Hands-On Clay area sculpt, mold and carve the clay into their own original creations.

Music Recording: Shifts average 3 hours. Coordinated by manager. Work the simple recorders while listening to our fantastic Festival bands. No special technical skills needed, but neat legible handwriting is important. Instructions will be provided in advance.

EEEK: (Eno Environmental Education for Kids): *Must be 17 or older* Teach kids about the critters & ecosystem of the Eno. Some volunteers help kids search for tadpoles, crawdads and macro invertebrates in the river, while others teach them about salamanders, snakes & turtles. You can choose whichever best fits your skills.

Face painting: Shifts are 3 hours. Coordinated by manager. Decorate the children and adults! An opportunity to use your art/graphic skills and have fun painting designs on happy faces. Paint and supplies are included.

Craft Booth Sitters: Shift is 3 hours from 12-3 p.m. The purpose of your shift is to give the craft vendors a break while keeping their booth open.
