Special Olympics Montana (SOMT) is looking for a flexible and action-oriented individual to take on the role of Sports and Competition Coordinator in the Glacier region (Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Eureka, and the surrounding area). The primary role of the Sports and Competition Coordinator is to facilitate local area competition opportunities where Special Olympic athletes can develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and form lasting relationships.
As a volunteer-led organization, SOMT relies upon the leadership and dedication of passionate community members like you to ensure that athletes have the opportunity to compete. Within SOMT, all activities are coordinated by a group of such volunteers called the Area Management Team (AMT) in each of the 12 regions across the state. Each AMT is made up of volunteers who work to ensure that quality training programs and athletic competition events are available to all eligible individuals in their communities.
The major events that the Glacier Sports and Cometition Coordinator will organize, include the Glacier Basketball Tournament in October, the Holiday Bowl in December, and the Spring Games in April. As the primary liaison between SOMT's Sports Department and the local AMT, the Sports and Competition Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that all coaches and athletes have the most up-to-date information regarding competition rules and regulations.
If you have passion to serve and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports and competition, please join our team at Special Olympics Montana today!
