Hospital for Special Care is a long term acute care hospital. Volunteers are needed within our Therapeutic Recreation Department to play games, crafts, read, watch movies, work on I-Pad, listen to music, play cards, pass out leisure materials to patients.
Complete training and support are provided. Be part of our mission to rebuild lives!
Located at our main campus in New Britain or at our satellite location at the Mount Sinai Campus in Hartford.

Description
Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.
We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.
We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
