Big Brothers Big Sisters - Pikes Peak
Colorado Springs, CO
Mentor2.0 matches high school students at Atlas Preparatory School with college-educated mentors in the Colorado Springs community, providing the students with support and guidance through their high school career to prepare them for the future.
The majority of the mentorship is conducted over a secure online platform (iMentor) as a "pen pal mentorship," exchanging correspondence over curricular assignments and life questions. This allows for busy professionals to flex their time-investment around their schedules.
In addition, there are monthly group events for in-person mentoring - hosted at Atlas Preparatory School and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters - Pikes Peak. This program would be great for companies who would like their employees to involve themselves in community engagement; your colleagues could simply leave work together and attend the mentoring event together.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age, have a form of post-secondary education, and be able to pass a background check.
Volunteers must also be willing to commit to the program for four years. We want to match students with a mentor from freshman year through graduation, to provide students with consistency and commitment.
This program is our greatest need for volunteers. Over the next three to four months, we need to recruit 130 volunteers to be mentors for the students of the upcoming freshman class at Atlas Prep.
Please considering volunteering today! Also, please spread the word! Any and all help with recruiting volunteers would be greatly appreciated!
