The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. During the summer, USDA expects to serve more than 200 million free meals to children 18 years and under at approved SFSP sites.
Overview
Monitor host site operations to make sure that the sites maintain adequate records and that the program is operating in accordance with the federally mandated guidelines
Responsibilities and Duties
- Attend one federally required training prior to conducting site visits
- Ensure site is following program guidelines
- Complete site visit form provided by Tarrant Area Food Bank
- Visit each site scheduled by deadlines
- Ensure kids are in a safe, sanitary, and accommodating facility
- Support and constructively coach site staff while maintaining a positive experience
- Be able to handle dynamic situations and find solutions when necessary
Qualifications
- Availability between 7:00am - 4:00pm
- 21 or older
- Minimum of 5 site visits (2 hours per site visit)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Access to an insured vehicle
- Be able to submit and pass a full background check, including driving record
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Be able to work in an outside environment during peak summer temperatures
The SFSP monitors will report to Food for Kids Department manager.

Description
Tarrant Area Food Bank distributes food to more than 300 partner agencies in a thirteen county service region. In the past year, TAFB distributed over 30 million pounds of food to neighbors in need. TAFB also offers complementary programs such as nutrition education, food stamp outreach, mobile food distribution, food for children and community gardens for children and adults of our member agencies.
