Elfreth's Alley Fete Day - Volunteers Needed - on June 2nd, 2018/Info Sessions on May 5th & May 9th.
Elfreth's Alley, America's oldest continuously residential street, is looking for volunteers to help at it's annual Fete Day, on Saturday afternoon, June 2nd, 2018 from 1-5 pm. We will be hosting two information sessions for prospective volunteers; one will be on Saturday, May 5th from 10-11:30, the other will be on Wednesday, May 9th from 6-7:30.
Fete Day is an annual celebration that has been held for over 70 years. It is a street wide celebration that affords Fete goers the opportunity to see inside many of the private homes. Elfreth's Alley receives hundreds of thousands of visitors every year but very few of them ever get to step inside these 18th Century private homes, except during these special Fete days.
This annual event also offers music, demonstrations of 18th century crafts and refreshments. All volunteers will receive free admission to the event to enjoy when their shift is finished.
Over 20 houses will be open. We need volunteers to help greet visitors into the individual homes and answer any questions they may have regarding the house as well as the Alley. Volunteers will be provided with information on the house they monitor as well as the Alley itself. A volunteer shifts ranges from 2-4 hours. All volunteers will receive free admission to the event with a guest to enjoy when their shift is finished.
If you are interested in history, architecture and preservation - this is a great opportunity to volunteer for a short period but make a large difference.
Please contact Patricia Silverman at psilverman@elfrethsalley.org or Elaine Morris at elaine.morris8@comcast.net. with any questions or to RSVP for a info session.
