The Patient Representative team member is a communicator who serves as a liaison between the patients, their families and hospital staff. Patient Representatives help personalize and strengthen the relationship between the above, to ensure quality care and patient satisfaction while in Saint Joseph HealthCare.
A. As a representative of the hospital, the Patient Representative conveys concern for the patient's physical and emotional needs. Their services are available throughout the patient's stay.
B. As a member of the health care team, the representative's role will be to help patients interpret hospital policies, procedures, and services; to help obtain solutions to problems and concerns; and help staff gain an awareness of patients' perceptions of the hospital and services.
C. The Patient Representative is not to be considered a social worker, counselor or clinician.
D. New Patient Representatives will be required to complete 6 weeks of training with the Coordinator of Patient Representatives.
