The City of Austin VISTA Program is currently interviewing for 28 AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate positions located in Austin, TX within a variety of city departments and agencies. The program begins May 29th, 2018 and goes through August 7th, 2018. Summer Associates make a 10-week, full-time commitment to serve at projects that bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
Benefits:
In return for their service, VISTA members in Austin receive a modest living allowance of about $1100/month before taxes and have the option of receiving an AmeriCorps Education Award (about $1,225) or post-service stipend ($345) after completing their service. Our members are also able to receive a free annual city bus pass to assist with transportation needs.
The City of Austin VISTA Program is actively recruiting for the following Summer Associate positions: Community Services, Austin Public Library, Elisabet Ney Museum, Carver Museum, Andy Roddick Foundation, African-American Youth Harvest Foundation, and Neighborhood Housing and Community Development.

VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) was founded in 1965 as a national service program to fight poverty in America. In 1993, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs.
Today, more than 46 million Americans live in poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA taps the skills, talents and passion of more than 8,000 Americans annually to support community efforts to overcome poverty.
