Specifics:
The treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the organization, including the collection of money and the payment of bills, providing petty cash for events and presenting monthly reports to the Friends Executive Committee and the Library Director.

Ongoing and general responsibilities include:

• picking up mail from postal mail box
• picking up money from Kiosk (books available for purchase at library)
• depositing money from donations, memberships and fundraising
• reimbursing volunteers for purchases
• providing petty cash for 4 fundraising events per year

Reporting duties include:

• Monthly: present beginning and ending balances and details of deposits and expenses for the previous month
• Quarterly: present amount in CD
• Yearly: With input from the Library Director and Committee Chairs, prepare the yearly budget for final approval at the annual meeting
• Federal & State: prepare and file the yearly tax return, IRS Form 990N (a simple E Postcard for non-profits not required to file the full IRS 990 Form); the bi-annual filings of Incorporation with the VT Sec. of State
