B~STEM Project

Hello Community!

We are in need of professional content creators / videographers to serve as mentors. We partnered with VidCon (www.vidcon.com) to create an awesome program (Digital Storytellers) for female content creators of color. The program runs June 18 - 23. There is a 3-day workshop to instruct students on video content creation and strategy. Following they will participate in the 3-day VidCon experience where they produce (shoot and edit) their video content.

We will select a total of 9 high school girls and college level women to participate. They will be broken into 3 teams. Each team will produce content around the VidCon Experience for 3 days. We would like to have 1 professional volunteer per team to mentor. Volunteers will also document their team so that we can highlight the program via social. This will be done by taking pictures and capturing them in action through video. We will also use the footage for promotional purposes. Our hope is that this program can become a yearly experience. Potentially more female content creators of color will have the opportunity.

Here are a few details:

- We would love it if you could mentor all 6 days but understand it might not be possible. However, we will need mentor for 3-day during VidCon conference.

- VidCon is at the Anaheim Convention Center. The 3 days are heavier traffic days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). The schedule is 8:30a - 4:30p. So would need to consider this.

- The mentor will make sure the teams are accomplishing pre-established goals. They will shoot and edit their own content. Mentors supervise and assist ensuring they accomplish their established goals.

- One of the students on each team will serve as an on-camera personality.

- There will be an opportunity to attend a panel or check out what's happening, However, the primary focus is the program and ensuring the girls produce awesome content. Thus the majority of time must be spent with the team.

- We will provide passes, parking and lunch for all Mentors.

- Must be dependable and hopefully passionate about giving back.

If you are interested in volunteering your time and expertise please reach out to us. Thank you!
