Junior Giants Team Parents

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: City of Napa Parks & Recreation Department

Team parents help support the team coach and assistant coach by going over the word of the week with the kids either before or after games and practices. Team parents are also responsible for helping promote an environment where all players feel welcome and have fun in a noncompetitive and friendly atmosphere. The league starts June 11th and ends August 4th. There is one practice every Monday and one gave every Saturday.

Some of the team parent's main responsibilities consist of:

  • Assist your team's coaches and ensure each player is participating in the word of the week programs
  • Help reinforce the Word of the Week by:
    • Distributing rewards to players each week using WOW packs
    • Tracking your team's progress online in Sports Illustrated Play
  • Take attendance each week and let your Commissioner or Ambassador know which players have dropped and are no longer attending
There are many benefits to being a volunteer with the Junior Giants, this can include anything from service learning and resume building to Giants tickets, pins and other benefits. At the end of the season, coaches are nominated for the Willy Mack award and will be subsequently recognized at the game.
