The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center offers mental health counseling to low income or uninsured members of the community at an affordable fee. We train two types of counselors--those who are seeking to become licensed therapists and those who are looking for an opportunity to help others.
Our volunteer counselors receive excellent training for 16 weeks and then work under the supervision of licensed therapists. Training is held on Tuesdays and some Saturdays. Following training, you are required to see a minimum of 4 clients and attend a weekly 2 hour supervision.

Through the dedicated commitment of well-trained, supervised volunteer counselors, we provide access to quality, affordable mental health counseling for individuals, couples and families who may be uninsured or have financial limitations.
Description
The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center is a non-profit organization with 50 years of providing quality, and affordable counseling to the community.
Our counseling is provided by a dedicated and competent staff of paraprofessionals, graduate program trainees, interns and paraprofessional counselors, who are rigorously trained and supervised by licensed mental health professionals who share our vision and commitment to the community.
The Center is supported entirely by contributions from individuals, families and businesses in the community and by counseling fees from clients, all of which go directly to the Center to fund its operations.
