Our farm is open from March-November on every weekend to the public from 1pm-4pm, so volunteer opportunities are continually available. Throughout October our farm is open 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. During the other months, our farm is open from 1pm-4pm [Special Event hours are from 10am-4pm]. During those times our largest need for volunteers is gate keepers. These volunteers manage the gates in the animal pens, ensuring the safety of both the animals and the patrons. Volunteers must be comfortable interacting with the public and with animals. We have many species of animals including: chickens, pigs, goats, cows, sheep, donkeys, ponies, ducks, geese and rabbits. Open Farm Days attendance is pretty dependent on the weather. Some days volunteers end up interacting with the public a lot, while other days are a lot of spending time with the animals. Youth volunteers must be 13 years old in order to volunteer without an adult. Youth under 13 years of age are required to have an adult volunteer alongside them. Everyone will do at least a 1-hour training with myself and depending on what you are interested in helping with, we can go from there. Training days will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 4pm-5pm. You must sign up for training in advance. You must complete a training session before you are eligible to volunteer for Open Farm. Sign-up can be done through me and is as simple as a confirmation of which day you are interested in attending. Everyone will receive an information manual to read and study after we meet.
