Join us as we celebrate reading!
Reading opens the creativity and imagination of each child who holds a book.
Our first event hosted over 200 people and over second ove 1, 200 (talk about growth) and we are looking for an even greater turnout for September 21, 2019! Get in on the movement...
HEY! Let's Read Book Festival! will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 10am - 3pm is a half-day filled with activities and resources for children of Color. In addition to books available for purchase from local authors and giveaways that feature our children as the protagonists and main characters, there will be opportunities to foster a love of reading and learning!
Volunteers are needed for the following:
- Setup and Breakdown of venue space (moving tables, chairs, setting up decorations, etc.)
- To check in vendors and attendees
- To move throughout the venue space to ensure we have email addresses for as many people as possible
- To greet attendees outside and at the door by welcoming them and encouraging them to stop by the HEY! table
- Working the HEY! store (donations will be collected, tshirts, books, and raffle tickets will be sold at the HEY! Store)
- Organizing and facilitating field games for youth outside in the field and/or parking lot
- Assisting with parking
- Keeping point with the Run of Show (ROS) for the main stage
We will ask all volunteers to wear jeans or jean shorts (an appropriate length please), flat or athletic shoes, and red, blue or yellow tshirts. Lanyards will be given to identify you as a volunteer.
There will be a volunteer call on Wednesday, 9/18 at 7:00pm.
