The Musical Instrument Museum seeks full-time students aged sixteen and older to become volunteer team members! The Student Volunteer Program at MIM aims to enable young people to build leadership skills and gain experience while working with museum staff and volunteer team members. Volunteering at MIM is a great opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of a museum, explore possible careers in the museum field, gain experience in guest service, and share a passion for music with others.
Student volunteers are required to complete two shifts per week, with a minimum of one month’s commitment during their summer break, or commit two shifts per month year-round. Student volunteers will have the opportunity to help in the Experience Gallery, at Guest Service, during Signature Events, or other areas around the museum.
To learn available opportunities or to apply please visit mim.org/volunteer, or email volunteer@mim.org.

Mission Statement
The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) enriches our world by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every country in the world. MIM offers guests a welcoming and fun experience, incomparable interactive technology, dynamic programming, and exceptional musical performances. MIM fosters appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures by showing how we innovate, adapt, and learn from each other to create music--the language of the soul.
Description
MIM displays more than 6,800 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts-performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery. They can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley (r), Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.
