Big Brothers Big Sisters - Pikes Peak
Colorado Springs, CO
Mentor2.0 matches high school students from Atlas Preparatory School with college-educated mentors in the Colorado Springs community, providing the students with support and guidance through their high school career to prepare them for the future.
The majority of the mentorship is done over a secure online platform (iMentor) as a "pen pal mentorship," exchanging messages regarding school assignments and life questions. This online aspect allows for busy professionals to flex their time-investment around their schedules.
In addition, there are monthly events for in-person mentoring hosted at Atlas Preparatory School and facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age, and have some form of post-secondary (post-high school) training, certification or education.
Volunteers must be able to pass an extensive background check.
Also, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit to the program for four years. We are looking to match freshman students with a mentor through graduation. Many of these students are in need of an example of commitment and consistency in their life.
This program is our biggest need for volunteers. We are going to need 130 mentors for the freshman students of the upcoming school year. We are starting to campaign to recruit volunteers now. This program is great for any company or organization that would like their employees to volunteer in the community because for the monthly events, the employees could all go from work to the event together. Please consider volunteering! And please help spread the word!
