Volunteers in our Emergency Department (ED) help create and promote a caring, compassionate, efficient environment for patients and their family members.

Examples of ED volunteer duties:

  • Greet patients and visitors; paying close attention to their needs for assistance.
  • Walk visitors to patient room/destination; when needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between patient, family and staff (as needed).
  • Use proper wheelchair techniques taught during wheelchair training/competency; including proper cleaning of wheelchairs.
  • Restock ED rooms with linens and plastics to prepare the room for the next patient.
  • Check status of patient nutrition areas in the ED.

  • 4-hour shifts are available daily (7 days a week). Select shifts available. Must be available to train during the regular work week (Monday-Friday between 8AM and 4PM).
