Volunteers in our Surgery Waiting Area help create and promote a caring, compassionate, efficient environment for patients and their family members.

Examples of Surgery Waiting Room volunteer duties:

  • Sticker and file patient charts.
  • Escort patient to testing, patient to family, family to patient, etc.
  • Answering phone at volunteer desk and take messages as necessary.
  • Assist with crowd control at Registration Desk.
  • Review the clipboard/whiteboard to relay patient information to the family.
  • Make fresh coffee, clean the kitchenette (including a resupply of coffee, cream, crackers etc.) and the family notification pagers.
  • Light housekeeping in Waiting Room (put away magazines and chairs, dust, etc).
