BE THE LIGHT as an AMAZING Hospice Volunteer
It’s not surprising that hospice volunteers consistently describe their experiences as personally rewarding and fulfilling. Helping others as they near the end of their lives is a profoundly moving experience. Spend some time virtually with a hospice patient and create a special space for them-- reading, reviewing life histories, writing a letter to a loved one for them, or just telling stories about the one that got away.
As a Hospice Volunteer you are specially trained to support the patient and family in a variety of ways. Currently, training is done in multiple ways to fit your schedule via Zoom or in person. Training is informative, easy, and fun. It is designed to give volunteers the tools to be confident and comfortable working with our patients.
Our volunteers are welcomed as respected members of the care team, whether they have a desire to help ) in the office, sit with a patient, listen to life stories, help patients write letters, read to them, or just offer a friendly ear. Whether they work "up close and personal", or prefer to stay behind the scenes, we are happy to work around our volunteers' schedules.
For more information on how you can make a difference in the life of a hospice patient, call or email Vanessa Verdugo, Director of Volunteer Services at Brookdale Hospice. I look forward to meeting you and starting on your hospice volunteer journey!!!

Mission Statement
Our Mission Statement is simple but powerful: Enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity.
Description
Life is much more than physical health; it is also the dignity of the human spirit. When physical health begins to fail, the nurturing of the spirit becomes increasingly important. Hospice care is a service that aids the transition between living and dying by providing respect, care, comfort, and support to patients and families.
Brookdale Hospice volunteers provide important support to the care of our patients and families. We have communities throughout the valley. We also serve outside the Brookdale walls in private homes.
Brookdale Hospice serves primarily residents at Brookdale Senior Living communities and the surrounding neighborhoods. We are CHAP accredited and a member of the NHPCO.
