Parker is a non-profit senior service organization, serving elders throughout the central Jersey area for over 100 years. Our campus Parker at River Road, is a Nursing Care Residence for elders in Piscataway with physical and cognitive needs. Attached is also Parker at Stonegate, an Assisted Living Residence, and Parker at the Pavilion.
We are looking for volunteers to lead a book club with residents at our Piscataway Nursing Home and Memory Care Neighborhood. This would be a monthly group where everyone reads a certain portion of a book, and then discusses the events in the book at the meetings.
If you are interested, please contact us and we'd love to have you!

Mission Statement
Parker's mission is to discover ways to make aging manageable, relatable, and enriching for all of society.
Description
Parker is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization with a mission "to discover ways to make aging manageable, relatable, and enriching for all of society" and a vision to "make aging part of life." We believe that age is much more than just a number. We have discovered that for many of the people we serve, one's later years can be a vital time of discovering new things, enjoying new friendships, and participating in the society around us. Rather than having society tell older folks what they can't do, at Parker we help them to do more of what they want to do.
Volunteerism is deeply rooted at Parker, beginning with our founder, Henrietta Parker, who encouraged and welcomed members of the community to help and care for the infirm individuals who resided in her home.
In addition to the caring administrations of our dedicated staff, Parker's residents and participants experience the warmth and kindness of over 250 volunteers who provide over 8000 hours of service each year. Volunteers enhance the quality of life of our residents and participants each and every day though the sharing of talents, skills, compassion, and time.
The volunteer department is an essential part of the culture of Parker. The volunteers provide services that enhance the quality of life of our residents through activities ranging from gift shop cashier to discussion group leader. We offer opportunities for people to share their pets, musical talents, spirituality, and other hobbies, interests and gifts.
