ORGANIZATION: Fargo VA Health Care System

The Volunteer In-Home Visitor Program (VIVP) provides homebound Veterans with the opportunity to have qualified and trained volunteers come into their homes and provide a break for the primary caregiver. Compassionate volunteers are carefully matched with Veterans, based on geographic location and common interests.

The Volunteer providing support will visit once or twice per week for a few hours each visit. The companionship, intellectual engagement and reassurance these visits provide boost the mental health and quality of life of Veterans in our community while giving the caregiver a much deserved break.

Caregiver Support Volunteers Provide:
Companionship for a Veteran, friendship with a Veteran and their family, and a break for the caregiver.

Caregiver Support Volunteers Do NOT provide:
Household chores, physical hands-on care, transportation of the Veteran, etc.

We are currently recruiting volunteers with weekday availability to serve Veterans in Fargo and surrounding areas.

*The Fargo VA has a 50 hour lifetime volunteer requirement, and all volunteers must pass a background check, submit to a TB test, and obtain a flu shot prior to volunteering.
