CLUES is a non-profit leader in behavioral health and human services. The agency was founded in 1981 with a vision for improving the quality of life of the Latino population in Minnesota. Today, CLUES is Minnesota’s largest Latino agency and serves the community in four distinct areas: Health and Family Well-being, Economic Vitality, Educational Achievement, and Civic and Cultural Engagement. Our services focus on the Latino family, however, our experience enables us to serve individuals and families from all walks of life.

Agency Mission: to advance the capacity of Latino individuals and families to be healthy, prosperous, and engaged in their communities.

Purpose of Position:

  • Welcome Boricua is a day to welcome newly arrived Puerto Rican families, provide an overview of resources available at CLUES tailored to their current needs. The main areas we will address are: Transportation, Employment, Housing and Access to Healthy Food. Some examples of the resources that will be offered are one on one assistance to fill out job applications, FEMA, SNAP and TAP applications and financial counseling.

Position Type: Unpaid volunteer service

Schedule:

  • Saturday, April 28th, 2018 Shift 1: 9:30 am to 12 pm // Shift 2: 12 pm to 2:30 pm (Event hours are 10 am to 2 pm)
  • Minimum time commitment: 5 hours (The volunteer may choose one shift from the above options, or both. Please specify your preference of date(s) in your application.)

Location(s): CLUES Minneapolis: 720 Lake Street East, Minneapolis, MN

Responsibilities:

  • Greeter/Intake/Hospitality (4)

Greet people as they come in, welcome them and explain what will happen at the event, and complete a brief intake form with them as needed. Assist with the food and snacks cleaning up and ensuring that there is snacks available at all times

  • Forms assistance (4)

Assist CLUES staff as needed to guide people through forms (English/Spanish proficiency required)

Qualifications:

  • Be open and respectful to the diverse life experiences, values and backgrounds of CLUES clients.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Please, arrive a few minutes early to get directions about your position.

A criminal background check and/or driving record check may be required. CLUES reserves the right to conduct background checks.

With offices in Minneapolis and Saint Paul, its current mission is to "Improve the quality of life of Latinos in Minnesota".
