ORGANIZATION: CITIZENS AGAINST VIOLENCE INC/Safe Haven

We need a group of excited individuals to help us reseal our picnic tables in preparation for Mother's Day! We want to make sure everything is perfect for these mothers that have been through so much. The project includes sealing 10 tables and will take about four hours.

Don't know how to reseal a table? No problem! We would be happy to walk you through the process and provide any assistance you may need! This would make a perfect project for a group of friends.

We appreciate everyone who helps here at Safe Haven. Without the generosity of our community, we wouldn't be where we are today!

Mission Statement

Citizens Against Violence, Inc. is dedicated to serving, strengthening and supporting both adult and child victims of domestic violence through the provision of emergency and community-based services. Citizens Against Violence, Inc. is dedicated to ending the cycle of family violence through prevention and education programs.

Description

Citizens Against Violence, Inc. (CAV) is a non-profit organization providing services to victims of domestic violence and their families. We provide our clients with rental and utility assistance for up to one year. The clients continue to receive case management services for up to 12 months following completion of the program.

Since 2005, the Providing Safe and Stable Families grant has provided CAV with funds for a children’s after school and summer program, and a day program for infants and toddlers. These funds also provide services for the parents including family assessments, home visits, support groups, resource referrals, family enrichment, mental health, substance abuse support, and legal advocacy.

CAV recently received VOCA funds to provide an Outreach Liaison as well as a teen dating violence program. Outreach provides information to various agencies in the community and direct service to clients throughout our six-county area. The Outreach Liaison makes presentations to schools, churches, DFCS, civic groups, universities and technical schools about Safe Haven’s services and teen dating violence awareness.
