The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest environmental group in the United States and has been essential to the founding of the National Parks, the enforcement of the NEPA, the Clean Water, and the Clean Air Acts. We've recently launched a number of local, Ready for 100 campaigns to push cities to commit to powering themselves by 100% renewable energy by 2050, and the Central Ohio Group has started our own right in Columbus, and we need you!
We're looking for a passionate, hard-working candidate to replace our outgoing Campaign Manager. This position is a part of the steering committee and is one of the foundational roles within the campaign. Duties consist of the following:
1. Be aware of the work being done in each of the four campaign committees (communications, digital, grassroots organizing, and lobbying) and give constructive and helpful feedback that increases each committee’s effectiveness. This will involve meeting 1 on 1 with the committee heads every few months and/or attending committee meetings.
2. Set the agenda for, attend, and lead steering committee meetings along with the campaign chair. Take minutes for the meeting and ensure that each of the meeting objectives have been taken on by a team member.
3. Represent the Ready for 100 Campaign within Columbus and at other green events.
4. Work with the campaign chair to set the tone of the campaign and reassess campaign goals and create effective strategies for achieving them.
5. Recruit candidates for committee chair positions as the need arises.
Prior experience in management is strongly preferred, though being self-motivated, an effective communicator, team player, and passionate advocate for renewable energy in Columbus is a must.

The Ohio Chapter was established in 1968 and represents more than 125,000 members and supporters. The Chapter advocates for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and public transit. We proudly defend Ohio’s forests, state parks, and nature preserves. We preserve water resources by advocating for green infrastructure, factory farm regulation, and protections for Lake Erie and watersheds throughout the state.
