ORGANIZATION: National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin

The intern will work to bring creative ideas and new promotions strategies to our target audience. A large portion of work will support the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin’s (NKFW) major fundraising event: Capital City 5K for Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donation on Saturday, July 28, in Madison, WI.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work as a collaborative team member to develop marketing materials that integrate the NKFW’s organizational brand in all aspects of the Capital City 5K and social media platforms
  • Create and implement promotion and marketing to increase event participation
  • Promote and inspire participants to individually raise funds
  • Develop content for social media, website, and collated print materials; post content targeted at specific audiences via
  • Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
  • Evaluate effectiveness of social media posts
  • Interview select participants for marketing/promotional purposes
  • Revitalize and regularly maintain Capital City 5K blog
  • Create event press releases and manage event related media relations
  • Conduct post‐event surveys of volunteers and participants and compile results
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Attributes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with social media, infographics, photography, and audio/video preferred
  • Pursuing a college degree or recent graduate
  • Experience in interviewing and marketing; experience working with volunteers a plus
  • Strong computer skills and basic understanding of an office environment
  • Dependable, flexible, respectful, and a team player
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Personal interest in sports or health‐related marketing
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Personal laptop recommended

Time Commitment: Approx. May 14, 2018 - August 10, 2018
Part‐time with flexible hours, 15 ‐ 20 hours per week preferred
Must be available the week of July 23 and all day on Saturday, July 28

Other: This an unpaid internship. The NKFW will work with colleges/universities to ensure credit and/or fellowship requirements are met and provide recommendations for future employers

More than 20 million Americans - one in nine adults - have chronic kidney disease, and most don't even know it. More than 20 million others are at increased risk.

The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin (NKFW), along with other affiliates and divisions of the National Kidney Foundation, conducts programs in research, professional education, patient and community services, public education and organ donation.

The work of the NKFW is funded totally by contributions from individuals and through special events.
